Central locking not working

Informational, low priority

remote key fob not locking car · doors wont lock together

Symptom description

Pressing the lock/unlock button on the key fob or interior switch does not lock or unlock all doors together, or does nothing at all.

Common causes

  • A dead or low key fob battery
  • A faulty door lock actuator on one door (if only that door fails to respond)
  • A blown fuse for the central locking system
  • A failing body control module

What to check

Try replacing the key fob battery first - it is a cheap, five-minute fix and a very common cause.

Can you keep driving?

Safe to drive, but treat it as a security priority - manually check all doors are locked when parking until it is fixed.
