Many dashboard warning lights come on together

Serious - act right away

dashboard lit up like a christmas tree · multiple warning lights at once

Symptom description

Several unrelated dashboard warning lights (for example ABS, battery, power steering and traction control together) all illuminate at the same time.

Common causes

  • A failing alternator or a very weak battery causing a voltage drop that affects multiple systems
  • A loose or corroded main battery terminal or ground connection
  • A wiring harness fault affecting a shared power or ground circuit

What to check

Check the battery terminals for looseness or corrosion first - a single bad connection commonly explains many lights coming on together.

Can you keep driving?

Not recommended for more than a short distance. Multiple lights at once often means several safety systems (ABS, traction control) may not be functioning.
