engine knock · metallic knocking sound engine
A rhythmic, metallic knocking or tapping sound coming from the engine, often changing pace with engine speed.
Check the oil level and oil pressure warning light immediately - if the oil light is also on, stop the engine as soon as safely possible.
Not recommended, especially if paired with a lit oil pressure warning light. A rod knock in particular can lead to sudden, complete engine failure.
