Lane Departure Warning Light

Informational - status, not a fault

lane assist light · lane keep assist light

What it means

This light shows the status of the lane departure warning or lane keeping assist system, which alerts you (or gently steers you back) if you drift out of your lane without signaling.

Common causes

  • System temporarily disabled because lane markings are not visible (worn paint, snow, heavy rain)
  • Camera behind the windshield blocked or dirty
  • Manually turned off by the driver
  • Faulty forward-facing camera or its calibration

What to do

Clean the windshield around the camera area if visibility seems to be the cause. If the light indicates a fault rather than just unavailability, have the camera system checked and recalibrated if needed.

Can you keep driving?

Yes, this is a driver-assist feature, not a core safety system - the car drives and brakes normally without it, you simply lose the lane-drift alert.
