Forward Collision Warning Light

Amber - needs attention

collision warning light · pre-collision system light · automatic emergency braking light

What it means

This light indicates a fault or temporary unavailability of the forward collision warning or automatic emergency braking system, which normally watches the road ahead for a possible collision.

Common causes

  • Radar or camera sensor blocked by dirt, ice, or a damaged front bumper/windshield area
  • Sensor misalignment after a minor collision or bumper repair
  • System temporarily disabled in heavy rain, fog, or snow
  • Faulty sensor or control module

What to do

Clean the sensor area (often behind the front grille badge or windshield) if weather or dirt seems responsible. If the light persists in clear conditions, have the sensor checked and, if it was in a fender-bender recently, recalibrated.

Can you keep driving?

Yes, but drive with the awareness that automatic braking assistance may not be available - rely on your own attention and following distance rather than the system.
